Is Your Office Copy Machine a Serious Security Risk?

A copier may seem like old school paper-based technology, but there is a lot more to it, and the way your office uses it could cause a serious security leak in the future. According to a report from CBS News, many office copiers save a digital image of the scans and copies that it makes on a dedicated interal hard drive. This means that everything from as mundate as Cub Scout flyers to birth certificates, credit cards, financial statements, contracts and more are stored on that device. Further, if that device changes hands, all of that information goes with it.

So the next time you dispose of a copy machine, be sure you know what is on there or how to get it off. If you need help, call us.
