Warning from the BBB: A fraudulent message which claims to originate with Microsoft is being circulated to businesses in our area. The message contains a zip file attachment which contains a virus. Please do not install this on your computer, instead delete the message.

Please remember NOT to install any type of .zip file you may receive in an attachment.  There is another virus going around and now they are making it appear as if it may be a  software protection from the Microsoft Corporation.  Please DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING you may receive in an email.  Thank you.

The email may look like the one below.

Dear Microsoft Customer,

Starting 18/10/2009 the 'Conficker' worm began infecting Microsoft customers unusually rapidly. Microsoft has been advised by your Internet provider that your network is infected.

To counteract further spread we advise removing the infection using an antispyware program. We are supplying all effected Windows Users with a free system scan in order to clean any files infected by the virus.

Please install attached file to start the scan. The process takes under a minute and will prevent your files from being compromised. We appreciate your prompt cooperation.

Regards,
Microsoft Windows Agent #2 (Hollis)

Please visit the Better Business Bureau website at www.bbb.org enter your zip code and then check out your business to ensure we have the correct information in your report. If you need to update any information, if you have questions regarding your report, or if you wish to see if you qualify for BBB Accreditation please call the BBB regional office in College Station. We hope this message was a help to you.
