Domain Name Transfer

Introduction

Below outlines the step by step process of transfering a domain name, registered through Network Solutions (www.netsol.com), from one nameserver to another. This process does not make any changes to the ownership (registrant) or the registration company (registrar) on the domain.

To start the process, a transfer request must be generated from Network Solutions Website. Also see Domain Parking for our nameserver and NIC handle settings. Contact your technical support rep if you have any questions on generating the form.

Finally, to complete the process, either a technical, administrative, or billing contact must be able/willing to respond to the email forms. If this is not the case, please contact your sales rep for recommendations on a case by case basis.

Once you have recieved an email from hostmaster@networksolutions.com, you are ready to start at Step 1 below.

Steps

1. You will receive a message from hostmaster@networksolutions.com that states:

This is the Domain Name Registration Agreement you recently created. In order to complete this modification, YOU MUST E-MAIL THIS FORM TO: hostmaster@networksolutions.com.

All you have to do is hit reply and send it. You do not need to make any modifications.

2. Next you will receive a confirmation email from hostmaster@networksolutions.com that reads:

This is an automatic reply from Network Solutions to let you know that we've received your message."

You can just delete this message. There is also no need to modify or respond.

3. This step takes the most feedback on your end, but it's pretty easy. You will receive a message from Domain Registration Role Account domreg@networksolutions.com that starts:

We have recently received a request to change information in our database. As a contact for this record, you have the authority to agree or disagree with the modification request.

Hit reply and scroll down until you find this:

0b. Auth Info...............:

1a. (Y)ES (N)O......:
1b. Comments........:

Change that part to read like the below example (adding "mail-from" on line 0a and "yes" on line 1a:

Authorization
0a. Auth Scheme.............: mail-from
0b. Auth Info...............:

Acknowledgment
1a. (Y)ES (N)O......: yes
1b. Comments........:

It's important that you do not modify anything else in the email. Once you have made the above changes, send the email to domreg@networksolutions.com.

4. If everything goes correctly, all of the contacts on the account (new and old) will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. The email will come from domreg@networksolutions.com and will read:

Modifications for the domain name registration shown below have been completed.

If you do not receive a confirmation or rejection notice within 24 hours of responding, something has gone wrong. You will need to start again from step 1.

Contact your tech support rep if you have any additional questions. Thank you again for choosing our hosting.
