General Setup
-
All html files will go in the 'yourname-www' directory, be sure you are in the yourname-www directory before uploading. 'www' is the same exact folder, there is no difference, so don't delete it!
-
Your control panel is located at http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/. Please use your IP address (http://123.45.67.8910/cpanel/) until your domain registration/modification is complete. Your IP address is the 'actual' physical address of your site on this thing we call the Internet, the domain basically points to it so it can be accessed through both (true with any web site).
If you have problems accessing your control panel, check your firewall settings. Port :2082 must be open to access the Control Panel.
-
Your control panel will ask you for a username and password, please use the username and password emailed to you after you have signed up. NOTE: The password is CaSe SeSiTiVe , so you will need to enter it exactly as it appears. This can be changed once in the control panel by clicking the "change password" button.
-
index.htm is your under construction homepage when you access your site for the first time. index.html is generally your homepage, sometimes can be called default.htm or index.htm depending on what program you're using. If the program you're using calls your homepage by a different name other than index.html, be sure to delete index.html so you don't have duplicate homepages.
-
You should never delete or edit any files or folders that are throughout your home directory initially.
